Chocolats Privilège, Montreal’s only bean-to-bar chocolatier, has boutiques at the Atwater Market and a few other locations in the city where you can check out their range of fine handcrafted chocolates. Look for classic confections such as gianduja, coffee truffle, and chocolate caramel as well as more unusual ones such as basil and lime ganache, coconut milk and coriander ganache, and szechuan pepper ganache. Also delicious are their chocolate spreads, of which the Maple-Fleur de Sel would make a good souvenir. If you are inclined to concoct your own chocolate desserts at home, they carry 40+ products for the home pâtissier, such as vintage or rare origin buds, chocolate flakes, almond paste, praline, and chocolate shells.
